I remember my younger days when my mother, father, sister and I would go out on a Saturday to the local river to spend the day in the canoe. Not only is spending some time in a canoe a great way to enjoy time with friends and family, it is also a great way to get yourself some exercise.
The image above shows two men battling the rapids in their canoe. Depending on the body of water where you choose to float your canoe, you may find some rapids like these, but much of the time there will be easy flowing water, and sometimes even large pools of barely moving water. Wherever you go, you will find that maneuvering yourself through the water will give you an excellent upper body workout.
Not only is a workout what you are looking for when you jump into your canoe. You can also enjoy some peaceful time as you take in nature in a nice drift down the river. Include friends and family so that you can engage in some nice social interaction. However you decide to handle your canoe experience, this activity offers many benefits to our mental and physical health.
