Are you growing weary of maiming almost ceaseless zombie hordes on Black Ops? Fed up with tedious, disintegrating weapons on Dead Island? Well today’s your lucky day, gamer. State of Decay, the ambitious open world zombie-survival game from Undead Labs, is now available to download via Xbox Live for 1600 Microsoft Points, and it’s pretty fantastic too.
State of Decay’s focus is on zombie survival, sweet action and the evolving world that has been created for you. Undead Labs have sought to put you in the role of a survivor during the zombie apocalypse by allowing you to make the choices that you’d most likely face if all hell actually did break loose. Survival is very much a buzzword for the game as all your decisions impact on the world and your chances of making it out alive. You can choose to consolidate your position by stocking up on supplies – food, medicine, ammo – and keep your fellow survivors’ morale up in your home base. Or you could take a more active approach, maybe by grabbing a pickup truck and ploughing down a nearby horde that’s intent on tearing you and your band of merry men apart? Options are aplenty and you’ve got to hope that you strike the right balance – Failure will be fatal.
This is a game that many of us at GameNTrain have been looking forward to and my first impressions are very, very good. In essence, it’s a world of sandbox fun that’s been filled with a fairly morbid sense of zombie survival. It’s up to you to decide how your group will survive in this world, and then it’s up to fate and skill to get the job done. If this hasn’t swayed you then maybe the trailer below will?
