Square Enix recently announced a third and final chapter to the Final Fantasy XIII story, Lighting Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. As the title implies, this title puts the focus back on XIII”s original heroine, Lighting, as she tries to save a doomed world from annihilation. There are 13 days left until the end of the world, so time is of the essence and you will have to decide how you will spend your final hours before the inevitable strikes.
Details are sparse at this point, but developers are promising a more direct battle system, a more expansive world, and increased levels of player freedom. Lightning will feature a range of techniques and customizations that will assist her both in battle and in exploring the world. There is also an important element of time-management featured in the game. Certain areas, people, and quests will only be available at certain periods of time. There is a strong emphasis on the game being ‘world driven’, meaning that environmental and ecological factors will affect the gameplay and story. The game will also feature Facebook integration and other ways to stay connected to the world of Final Fantasy XIII while you are away from your console.
