With only two days left in the GameNTrain Cosplay Special, we’ve got another awesome cosplayer joining us today.
Today, we head to Arizona, where we are joined by Amie Lynn of the LT3 group!
Amie Lynn is a cosplayer and a gaming enthusiast, but also considers herself an awkward chick. At least until cosplay was introduced to her life!
Amie is a fan of all things Sony and Metal Gear. She’s accomplished a number of amazing costumes from the Metal Gear universe, which you will get to see below.
Amie travel to conventions and expos on a regular basis under various titles including guest cosplayer, cosplay judge, and media representative. She has also been a brand ambassador for companies ranging from independent webcomics to widely popular gaming establishments.
Her goal is to plug herself into our wonderful gaming community in any way that she can!
Without further adieu, let’s learn more about today’s featured cosplayer, Amie Lynn!
1. What is it about cosplay that caught your interest?
I love the idea of being able to work creatively on a project that you are passionate about! You then get to display your hard work at conventions and geek out with other fans of whatever you are cosplaying from
The two forms are closely the same. I have titled myself as either one depending on my mood. As a cosplayer, I feel you hold more responsibility representing a character not only by looks but by attitude as well. Costuming tends to be a broader title. But literally everyone has a different answer!!
3. So for you, what do you prefer to model for cosplay? Characters from the eastern style of animation or western cartoons?
I am 4839 times more of an Anime nerd than a comic nerd! I definitely stray more towards Eastern animation. Although recently I’ve been obsessed with video game characters. <3
I probably cosplay video game characters THE MOST
5. Now aside from the characters you play, there’s also the thought of costume design vs. actually wearing the costume at different events. Both have their own unique challenges, but which of these two aspects of cosplay do you prefer?
Honestly my favorite part about making costumes is the task itself. I am self taught at sewing and learn something new with each costume. I’ve also been able to experiment with new materials for armor! Us cosplayers spend a lot of time, effort, and tears on our costumes. It always pays off though.
Hmm. Yuna, my most recent costume, means the most to me! She’s a character that I have always related so so much to. I used to have pretty low confidence and never even dreamed of making or wearing her costume. 5 years later into cosplaying and I have finally felt comfortable with my own body and skills to make the costume. I’m really happy I did too!
7. What do you enjoy most about the convention circuit and showing off your designs?
I love the fans! People that love the character as much as me really makes it all worthwhile! It’s brilliant being able to geek out with others!
Always do your research! I started off literally with ZERO experience and just sort of nose dived into tutorials haha. Not only that but even now I still ask cosplayers all the time how they make certain pieces of their costumes! I think the community is really supportive when you ask the right questions
9. Thank you so much for joining us today. If people wanted to find out more about you, where should they go?
Thanks a bunch!! ^____^
