Starcraft is one of the most popular multiplayer titles to date, so news of Blizzard possibly offering a free to play multiplayer aspect obviously turned a few heads. We all know that even when a title is free for us to play, there are ways that the developers make money, whether it be through ads or purchasable abilities and add ons. Blizzard had this to say regarding this topic:

“We don’t know how we would monetize it,” said Browder. “While it might be good fun for me to play against someone with only half the units available to them, that’s not going to be an enjoyable experience for them.”

We will have to wait and see how this turns out in the end. I am sure many have high hopes that this free to play option is a reality.
