Not much has been revealed as of yet concerning the upcoming Super Smash Bros games for Wii U and 3DS, which suggests the title is far from completion. I as much as any other fan of the series am excited to see the next chapter unveiled and await its reveal impatiently.
Masahiro Sakurai, the driving force behind the Super Smash Bros franchise tweeted earlier this week a photo straight from the development offices, and whilst it reveals no new faces, it does confirm a number of characters that fans will no doubt be glad to see have remained on the roster, such as the zippy Pikachu and powerhouse Donkey Kong.
So then, with no further announcements regarding new appearances, the juices of my brain started to flow as to who it is I’d personally like to see in the hugely anticipated addition to the series..
Dr Eggman (Sonic Series)
The obese scientist would make a great addition to the game as the incorporation of villains has become common, with Robotnik joining the likes of Ganondorf, King Dedede and of course Bowser in the evil department. Not to mention, his final smash may see him jumping into one of his many mechanical contraptions to reign down terror and destruction to all opponents.
Bomberman (Bomberman Series)
Straight from the “Planet Bomber” in the “Bomber Nebula”, the explosive expert is literally out of this world, and would be a small but deadly force to be reckoned with, hurtling bombs at his opponents relentlessly until their demise.
The damage output of Bomberman could increase alongside his damage taken, with his blasts gaining in severity over time, much like Lucario in Brawl. In regards to a special attack, perhaps a massive barrage of nukes that ravage both the map and enemies..
Tingle (The Legend of Zelda Series)
Tingle has indeed been featured in previous Super Smash Bros games, but has had no more significance than a background cameo on the Melee stage Great Bay, and an assist trophy on Brawl that usually provides round changing power ups and items. A true celebration of the quirky oddity would be however, to have him as a playable character.
Though this may be a peculiar choice based on the fact Tingle is somewhat of a harmless hermit, an ability to summon an army of fairies (similar to Olimar with his Pikmin in Brawl) to aid him would not only be a subtle callback to his obsession, but a powerful form of assistance combined with an arsenal of magics and tricks.
So that concludes who I’d like to see in the next Super Smash Bros game, which new characters would you like to see? or perhaps there are some old ones you would like to see return?
Thanks for reading and tune in next Monday!
