In light of the recent Electronic Entertainment Expo, the gaming world is booming. Gamers everywhere have gone and picked their sides for the revived console war, and great games are on their way. Many of these new titles will release later this year, however some of the truly impressive ones will release in 2014, which is turning next year into one of the biggest gaming years yet.

Due to the titles covered in this list being recently announced, they do not have an official release date.

Titanfall is an upcoming first person shooter being developed by Respawn Entertainment for PC and Xbox One, and possibly PlayStation 4. While in the midst of battle, the player can gain the chance to control large, humanoid, mechs to increase their power and abilities. Also, while out of the mech, the player can utilize a jet pack to to perform stunt like maneuvers like walking on walls.

The next game in the Mario Kart series is coming up. This installment in the franchise will utilize the Wii U’s tech to produce an HD look for the classic series. The game is to feature an altered-gravity environment, allowing the player to ride on walls and ceilings.

Set in a world where society has collapsed due to the spread of a dangerous disease , Tom Clancy’s The Division is an open world, multiplayer game being created by Ubisoft for the Xbox One and Playstation 4. The player controls a member of a group that was created to deal with societal breakdowns and to “save what remains” if at all possible.

4: Super Smash Bros U/3DS

Finally after five years, we are getting a new entry in the popular series. Super Smash Bros is a Nintendo character fighting game in development for the Wii U and 3DS, making it the first in the series to have a handheld version. The game will be the first in the series to be HD, running at 1080p, and will feature new additions to the character roster such as Megaman, the Animal Crossing Villager, and the Wii Fit Trainer.

5: X

Many fans have asked Nintendo for a more serious IP to accompany their well known franchises, and in my own personal opinion, they have delivered on that. X is a Role Playing Game being developed by the first party developer Monolith Soft for the Wii U. Although not much information has been announced, what has been shown by these two trailers will have the game feature huge monsters, a lush open world, and giant transforming mechs.

These five games were picked out of many to be included on this list. As such, it reflects my personal tastes in the gaming world and doesn’t do the non-listed games justice. There are many games that are worth mentioning, and are definitely worth watching for.
